What are your initial thoughts about the concept of Literacy with ICT (LwICT)?
I believe the premise and concept is a great idea, but I also think at the seniors years level there are going to be some challenges.
What implementation barriers for LwICT do you foresee at Senior Years?
Staff comfort levels. I see several staff in my school that have week technology skills that will likely put up some resistance.
What opportunities does LwICT present for Senior Years?
I see this as a great opportunity to continue on with the technology literacy from k-8 group and expand students skill sets. I know that most students have a keen interest in technology and know a lot more than most teachers, we should take the opportunity to use those skills they already know within our classrooms.
What professional learning is required initially to prepare Senior Years teachers to begin to use the LwICT continuum?
This will be the big challenge. Teachers need practical ideas that are easy to implement. If they need to spend a lot of time finding ways to make it happen in their class, it just will not happen. I do see the value of having leaders in school communities, that will be an important piece to seeing results. Picking the right school leaders will be key.
What types of ICT are available to you in your school, but not in your classroom?
Computer lab
What subjects and grades do you teach and how do you currently use ICT to enhance student learning?
World issues, History, Geography. Internet(variety of sights) video clips, multi media projects, Projector, Arc View
